USDA offers seminars on commodity purchase participation

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has a pair of web seminars scheduled to take companies through the steps of becoming an approved USDA Foods vendor.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has a pair of web seminars scheduled to take companies through the steps of becoming an approved USDA Foods vendor.

The USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service purchases more than 300 different food products each year for programs that feed schoolchildren and families through nutrition assistance and international food aid programs, according to a news release.

The web seminars cover topics including:

  • Steps to becoming an approved vendor;
  • Links and tools to help companies through the registration process;
  • What happens after becoming an approved vendor; and
  • Review of solicitation and product specifications.

Andrea Lang, the new vendor coordinator for the AMS Commodity Procurement Program, is the featured speaker at the seminars.

The seminars are free, but registration is required and participation is limited.

The first seminar is at 2 p.m. Eastern, Thursday, Aug. 16. (Click to register).
