BrightFarms’ greenhouse salad products will be sold in more than 330 Food Lion stores in Virginia and other Ahold-Delhaize Mid-Atlantic stores through an expanded partnership with the retailer.

The expansion includes new areas for the Irvington, N.Y.-based greenhouse company in western Virginia, and strengthens its presence in Charlottesville, Richmond and Norfolk, according to a news release.

Products grown at BrightFarms’ Culpeper, Va., greenhouse for sale at Food Lions stores include Sunny Crunch, Baby Spinach, Spring Mix, Baby Arugula and Mixed Greens.

The retailer has marketed BrightFarms products since 2016, and focuses on local programs.

“We’re excited about this expanded partnership with BrightFarms, which will expand our ability to deliver to our Virginia customers the high-quality, locally grown salad greens they expect from Food Lion,” Chris Dove, Food Lion’s vice president of produce category and merchandising, said in the release.

BrightFarms has supplied more than 160 Giant Landover stores, an Ahold-Delhaize banner, since 2016, and Giant Food Stores in Pennsylvania since 2017. The demand there led BrightFarms to build a 280,000-square-foot facility in Selinsgrove, Pa., that opened this month, according to the release. That allowed the Culpeper facility to shift supplies to Food Lions in Virginia.
