Hy-Vee is offering several events in January to help people get a jumpstart on their health goals. With the start of the new year, Hy-Vee’s team of registered dietitians will offer 1,000 free vitamin D screenings at nearly 60 stores throughout the West Des Moines, Iowa-based grocer’s eight-state region.

Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that helps support strong bones, facilitate normal immune function and aid in the absorption of calcium, says Hy-Vee. Screenings are administered via a simple finger stick and are available while supplies last. Registration is required and can be made online.

Additionally, Hy-Vee dietitians plan to hold other events throughout the month to promote healthy lifestyles in the new year.

Free discovery session — Individuals can jumpstart their health journey by scheduling a complimentary discovery session with a Hy-Vee registered dietitian to learn about different services available and choose the right individual program for their wellness journey. Discovery sessions are offered virtually, by phone or in person, and also are available in Spanish. Customers can schedule sessions directly with a dietitian in their local area.

Healthy habits menu program — Individuals can get a healthy start to their New Year by enrolling in Hy-Vee’s four-week Healthy Habits menu program. Hy-Vee dietitians provide one-on-one support to help individuals find a balanced lifestyle that fits their goals. Each individual is provided a weekly seven-day menu tailored to their needs, along with simple recipes and a convenient grocery list. Individuals can enroll in the program by searching for a Hy-Vee dietitian near them.

Free virtual wellness Wednesday classes — Hy-Vee dietitians will host complimentary virtual classes every Wednesday from noon to 12:30 p.m. focused on highlighting simple recipes and providing product recommendations. Class topics include: Deep Dive into Vitamin D, Nutrition Boosters, Filling Up with Fiber, and Meal Planning 101. Registration is available online.

Virtual freezer meal workshops — Hy-Vee dietitians will host virtual Freezer Meal Workshops designed to help families save time and money by prepping meals ahead. Participants have the option between two workshops and will receive a step-by-step guide, recipes and a Hy-Vee Aisles Online shoppable link with all of the ingredients already added for easy shopping.

The following workshops are offered for a $10 fee each.

Gluten free and dairy free — Hy-Vee dietitians make it easy for individuals to manage their dietary restrictions related to allergies and food sensitivities, the company said. In this freezer meal workshop individuals will prepare five flavorful, budget-friendly meals.

Traditional — In this freezer meal workshop, individuals will learn how to prep meals ahead of time while saving both time and money, Hy-Vee said.
