The Equitable Food Initiative says it has new education sessions for managers, supervisors and workers that are designed to help create a more ethical and sustainable work environment.

The educational opportunities range from webinars, one-hour seminars to intensive customized courses, according to a news release. EFI says the training can also help farming operations achieve EFI or third-party certifications for sustainability.

One of EFI’s new courses is Sustainability 101, which helps grower-shippers understand environmental reporting retail requirements and shares resources and tools to measure impacts.

Other education sessions include:

  • Improving communication and worker protections.
  • Preventing harassment and discrimination.
  • Developing management systems that support responsible labor practices.
  • Embracing continuous improvement.
  • Addressing retailer sustainability requirements.

“These new offerings support EFI’s goal of meeting grower-shippers where they are,” said Peter O’Driscoll, executive director of EFI. “We aim to reach a larger segment of the produce industry, providing services that support implementation of the industry’s Ethical Charter by helping employers strengthen their management systems.”

More information about the courses is available at equitablefood.org/seminars.
