The latest truck rate report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows generally adequate supplies to meet demand.
From the Oct. 9 report:
A slight shortage of trucks was reported for the following commodities: sweet potatoes from Eastern North Carolina. All other districts reported an adequate supply of trucks. A First Report was issued for the following commodities: mixed vegetables and melons for Mexico Crossings through Nogales Arizona, and sweet potatoes from Louisiana.
In fact, a survey of truck market data from the USDA indicates that rates and volumes are well off from last year and the peak year of 2015.
