If you force us to get a vaccine today, will you force us to eat vegetables tomorrow?

More than 100,000 people have dropped comments in the Federal Register document that spells out the Biden administration’s COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing: Emergency Temporary Standard.  The comment period has about 24 days to go as of Dec. 26.

Many of the people writing comments, of course, are ferociously against the idea of the vaccine mandate.

One commenter suggests it may be a vaccine mandate one day and a vegetable mandate the next.

“How can the government decide what must be inserted into an American's body? We are a FREE people and can decide for ourselves what medicines we take. If this government mandate is allowed to go into effect, then the next mandate could be that every American must take multivitamins or eat a pre-defined amount of vegetables. This mandate is unconstitutional. Period!”

Another commenter said a vegetable mandate could actually work better than a vaccine mandate:

"Medication use is always a personal decision. It is each individual’s right to make these choices regarding their health and disease risk factors. We would be better off mandating vegetable intake and exercise and banning processed foods than requiring a still-experimental drug technology, especially for healthy individuals whose risk of even needing the health care system with this disease is very low. These policies are evidence of government overstepping on rights of the people and must be stopped."

Forget the mandates, another person said. "True health and immune strength comes from eating fruits and vegetables ..."

"I strongly oppose vaccine mandates, as they are causing hundreds of thousands of injuries and deaths. They clearly are terribly risky, they’re experimental, and a tool for profit and control. The illness they are supposed to prevent has very low mortality and cures, which are being suppressed. True health and immune strength come from eating fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, vitamins, exercise, fresh air and a free life. Children and people of all ages are dying! Stop these horrific, anti-productive mandates. Blood is on the hands of everyone complying with this insanity!"

The horrifying specter of government orders to eat vegetables was invoked by more than one commenter resisting the vaccine mandate.

"Just as the federal government cannot issue orders for employees to eat vegetables three times a day, they cannot order people to take a shot that is experimental. The people who have jobs in this country should not let an experimental drug be put in their body or lose their job. The authoritarian control is the same. I urge OSHA and the Biden administration to immediately drop all plans to implement this rule."

Another asked whether the government is really interested in our health.

"If this really was about health and taking care of each other then we should all be forced to exercise, stop eating fast food and eat fruits and vegetables. It is our lifestyle choices that cause sickness in us. If my company is as inclusive as they say to be, then they should stand up for health freedom. If they don’t then I will leave and move on to where the government does not get to decide what goes into my body."

As for myself, I don’t “get” the vehement opposition to the vaccine mandate. I have been double-vaxxed and boosted. And yet, there are many who believe the government is overstepping, and a few, apparently, who think vaccine mandates could lead to a dystopian world where we are that much closer to the completely unfathomable vegetable mandate.
