What percent of the U.S. vegetable supply is imported?

You know that I answered the same question in a previous blog post about import penetration for fruit.

Again the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service provides the numbers for looking at import volumes over the past few 40 years or so.

The import growth of labor-intensive asparagus has been breathtaking, and the rising Mexican volumes of cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes also have been notable.
