The latest crowd-sourced produce wisdom came to me after I posted this question on the LinkedIn Fresh Produce Industry Discussion Group:

“What is one skill or tactic you use to establish enduring relationships in the produce business?”

Industry leaders didn’t waste words with their answers:

  • “Honesty”
  • “Get up, dress up, show up.”
  • “Share information freely and add value.”
  • “Listen first, speak second. Empathize.”
  • “Authenticity...never try or claim to be something you are not. It’s a deal-breaker.”
  • “Consistency”
  • “Ask about the quality of the product and performance of your service, talk the problems and find solutions together.”
  • “Always share an insight.”
  • “Always talk.”
  • “Communication.”

As usual, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
