The LEAD New York Program, Ithaca, is now accepting applications for its newest cohort, class 18.
Invitations have been sent to an extensive prospect list, but anyone interested in the program can apply by the March 1 deadline, according to a news release.
The development program is for adult professionals in the food, agriculture and natural resource industries of the Northeast. Selected candidates will have a wide range of interests and backgrounds. Participants meet monthly from October through April in each year of the program, according to the release.
“LEAD has had a more significant impact on how I run my farm than my four-year college degree in agriculture,” one graduate said in the release.
In the first year, there are meetings throughout New York, with 25 days of training focus on self-awareness and leadership skill development. Those who complete the full year receive a Leadership Fundamentals certificate, according to the release.
Participants can re-apply for a second year, entailing 25 days of commitment and involving more out-of-state and international travel, including a 10-day study tour, according to the release. People who complete the second year will be designated as LEAD Fellows.
