The Sonora Spring Summit has been postponed because of coronavirus COVID-19, but the main focus of the program, an outlook of the Mexican grape crop, will be presented online as scheduled.
AALPUM, the table grape producers’ association, plans to present the crop report with speaker presentations at noon March 19. The presentation will be broadcast live on the group’s YouTube channel, according to a news release.
Juan Laborin, the group’s general manager, said the presentation will be about an hour, with crop and other important information, such as updates on inspections.
“After much consultation with authorities and industry partners, AALPUM feels the duty and the responsibility to take this action,” according to the release.
The one-day event, which was scheduled for the second year in a row in the U.S., at the Tubac Golf Resort & Spa north of Nogales, Ariz., features presentations from representatives on both sides of the borders, with presentations including production, marketing and regulatory information.
Those who were already registered can transfer it to the new date, or request a refund, according to the release. Sponsorships will also transfer.
