Mike Ecker, president of the Vineland Growers Co-operative, Jordan Station, Ontario, is the Canadian Produce Marketing Association’s 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award honoree.

Ecker, who’s in his 45th year in the industry, received the award during a virtual gathering of CPMA board of director members and past chairs as part of the association board’s semi-annual meeting in mid-September.

He’s been with the cooperative throughout his career, according to a news release. As president, Ecker works with more than 300 members, to present a cohesive unit in marketing fresh fruit to retailers. He’s an appointee to the Vineland Research and Innovation Stakeholders Committee, to facilitate consultation and information exchange, according to the release.

CPMA President Ron LeMaire said Ecker has contributed thousands of hours of volunteer service to the industry throughout his career.

“His commitment to the growth and development of the industry continues to leave a lasting impression with everyone he meets,” LeMaire said in the release.

Ecker is on the CPMA board of directors, and has been its chairman of its Government Issue Management Committee. He has been president of the Ontario Produce Marketing Association board, and served in different roles at the Agricultural Adaption Council, according to the release.
