Striving not to gap in availability to the consumer, Chelan, Wash.-based Chelan Fresh continues expanding the length of season on multiple organic tree fruit varieties, says Kevin Stennes, organic sales manager.
Each year the committee offers foodservice and retail materials, full-color POS merchandise material, recipe cards for consumers and foodservice, and educational material.
“We have increased our acreage out of eastern Washington, which will give us access to additional volume in some of the best growing regions for organic blueberries,” said Brian Vertrees, director of business development.
A big increase is expected in Washington’s organic Cosmic Crisp apple volume this fall, says Brianna Shales, marketing director for Wenatchee, Wash.-based Stemilt Growers.
“We have significantly increased our onion acreage and are hopeful for the outcome of the season even with Mother Nature’s curveballs,” said Bailey Myers-Hartley, marketing director for the company.
From July 2023 through June 2024, the value of U.S. fresh exports rose for apples, berries, oranges, while dropping for potatoes and lettuce, according to the USDA.
