Apples are the top U.S. organic produce commodity exported in 2024, USDA trade numbers reveal.
For the 12 months from July 2023 to June 2024, U.S. organic apple exports were $171.9 million, up 48% from $116.1 million for the same period a year ago.
Lettuce, pears, grapes and strawberries rounded out the top five exported organic fresh produce commodities in 2024, according to the USDA.
Here is the value of selected organic fresh produce exports, by commodity, from July 2023 to June 2024, with percent change from the previous year period:
- Apples — $171.9 million, up 48%.
- Lettuce (not head) — $62.2 million, down 9%.
- Pears — $45.9 million, up 28%.
- Grapes — $42.1 million, down 15%.
- Strawberries — $39.4 million, down 6%.
- Spinach — $38.9 million, down 16%.
- Carrots — $38.1 million, down 9%.
- Cherries — $36.3 million, up 39%.
- Blueberries — $20.9 million, up 1%.
- Peach/nectarine — $18.3 million, up 24%.
- Cauliflower — $14.3 million, down 8%.
- Dates — $13.9 million, up 249%.
- Oranges — $11.2 million, up 56%.
- Lemons — $11 million, up 2%.
- Celery — $8.7 million, up 3%.
- Onion sets — $7.2 million, down 20%.
- Potatoes — $6.4 million, up 1%.
- Cabbage — $4.8 million, down 17%.
- Tomatoes — $4.3 million, up 8%.
- Peppers — $4.1 million, down 12%.
- Head lettuce — $3.8 million, up 50%.
- Broccoli — $3.2 million, up 70%.
- Grapefruit — $3.1 million, up 15%.
- Asparagus — $2.8 million, down 12%.
- Cucumbers — $1.6 million, down 16%.
- Watermelon — $1.5 million, down 41%.
