Riverfront Packing is now a compilation of three multi-generational citrus families, said Dan Richey, president of Riverfront Packing, Vero Beach, Fla.

“The Garavaglia family that formerly operated Packers of Indian River and the Banack family, which formerly operated Quality Citrus Packers, have joined forces with the Scott family, which has operated Riverfront Packing for many years, to create a strategic alliance to pack all the three families’ fruit under the Riverfront banner,” Richey said.

“We will continue to handle all export sales through Scott Marketing, a wholly owned subsidiary.”

Meanwhile, Richey said Riverfront Packing’s domestic fruit will be marketed this year through a new relationship with Florida Classic/Dundee Citrus.

“All of us recognized the need to join forces together in a strategic alliance for the benefit of all. We are excited to work with Florida Classic/Dundee Citrus. We have known them for many years and have great respect for their entire team.”

Richey said Riverfront Packing is replanting 1,500 acres.

“We are aggressive and we have also diversified into lemons and oranges with long-term contracts with Coca-Cola,” he said.
