Let’s talk merchandising. Sometimes it takes a little maneuvering to make promotions or cross-promotions make clear sense. Graham crackers and marshmallows? Well, we all know those go together. Chicken soup and soda? Now, that’s a tougher sell. Throw some soda crackers in there and maybe you’ve got a sick-day theme going? At any rate, when it comes to strawberries and summertime fun, it doesn’t take a lot of work to make a clear and strong connection. This is the time to get your shoppers in a summery, juicy, refreshing mood with displays that say, “Let’s run through the sprinklers and munch on fresh fruit!”

The first, somewhat obvious, step is to get those berries front and center. If moving the refrigerated shelves where you keep your Well•Pict Berries isn’t practical, consider signage and/or decorations to help direct people to the summertime stars of your produce department! Setting up a “summer fun” cross-promotional display with any pool toys, squirt toys, outdoor gear, etc.—anything that screams playing in the sunshine—could also help with a picnicky, fruit-salad mentality. And speaking of fruit salad… posting a fruit salad recipe “scavenger hunt” where the shopper moves through the produce department to find each fruity ingredient could also be a way to gear shoppers toward warm-weather fresh produce. Create a little ingredient checklist they can complete and trade in for a sticker at the register—a fun way to get the kiddos involved as well. Group sparkling water, champagne, crackers, cheeses, nuts, plastic champagne glasses, and colorful cocktail napkins alongside your Well•Pict Berries to get shoppers daydreaming about al fresco charcuterie boards on the deck with friends and family.

There is really no way to go wrong when it comes to celebrating strawberries during peak strawberry season! And even though we all know Well•Pict Berries practically sell themselves, with all the distractions and noise of a busy shopping day, it never hurts to nudge folks in the right direction.
