Meijer recalls diced salad bar eggs

Two Meijer stores in Grand Rapids, Mich., have recalled diced hard-boiled eggs salad bars because they were supplied by a company whose eggs are linked to Listeria monocytogenes outbreak.

Two Meijer stores in Grand Rapids, Mich., have recalled diced hard-boiled eggs salad bars because they were supplied by a company whose eggs are linked to Listeria monocytogenes outbreak.

Meijer posted a notice on the Food and Drug Administration’s recall website on Dec. 31. No illnesses have been reported from the Meijer salad bar eggs.

Almark Foods on Dec. 23 recalled all hard-boiled eggs from its Gainesville, Ga., facility, which has been closed during the FDA investigation into the outbreak.

The eggs at the two Meijer stories came diced and frozen in a 5-pound container, with the Universal Product Code of 79379900993, according to the notice.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported seven illnesses from the outbreak, including one death in Texas.

Dierberg’s Kitchen and Trader Joe’s recalled deli items containing Almark Foods eggs, and items in the produce aisle have been recalled:

  • Cece’s Veggie Co. brand Fresh Veggie Ramen with Chicken Broth from Veggie Noodle Co. LLC, an 11.5-ounce pack with the Universal Product Code of 5228700653;
  • Reichel Foods’ Pro2Snax with granny smith apple slices, egg, cheddar cheese, almonds and dried cranberries with a UPC of 649632001490; and
  • Reichel Foods’ Pro2Snax with gala apple slices, egg, white cheddar cheese, almonds and dried cranberries with a UPC of 649632001483.
