Registrar Corp. has upgraded it FDA Compliance Monitor with risk evaluation tools.

The monitor is designed to ensure companies are complying with the Food Safety Modernization Act, and it now includes RegiScore, a risk evaluation tool that calculates compliance scores for foreign suppliers of Food and Drug Administration-regulated products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, according to a news release.

RegiScore evaluates data from more than 200 million of shipments of FDA-regulated goods, along with FDA inspections, warning letters, import alerts and recalls to compile a supplier’s score, according to the release.

“RegiScore is an invaluable tool for both quality assurance and procurement professionals,” David Lennarz, president, said in the release. “It puts a wealth of actionable data at the user’s fingertips. Knowing sooner and acting faster – that’s what the monitor is all about.”

The FDA uses a system known as PREDICT (Predictive Risk-based Evaluation for Dynamic Import Compliance Targeting) to prioritize which imports should be examined or sampled and which ones are low-level risks, according to Registrar.

RegiScore is designed to make similar supplier assessments, according to the release.

“Using the Monitor is by far the best tool for FSVP (Foreign Supplier Verification Program) monitoring,” Jamie Jones, director of European operations at La Tienda, a large importer and online retailer of Spanish food products, said in the release. “This is especially true when you consider the speed, cost, and accuracy when compared to staffing someone in-house.”
