Manny Wong, owner and president of Fullei Fresh, Miami, has been named the Minority-Owned Small Business Person of Year for South Florida by the Small Business Administration.

Wong is involved in community organizations and is vice president of the International Sprout Growers Association and was involved with the formation of the Food and Drug Administration’s Sprout Safety Alliance, which developed regulations for the sprout industry, according to a news release from the company.

Wong is a lead instructor for the alliance, teaching growers and regulators about the sprout protocols.

“Manny will always be a proponent of the sprout industry and educating others,” according to the release. “In times like these, consumers want to benefit from nutrient-dense foods so now is the perfect time to eat more sprouts or try sprouting at home.”

The award recognizes Wong’s efforts in “advancing business ownership for Florida entrepreneurs,” according the release.

He was recognized during a virtual ceremony on Sept. 24.
