AVENTURA, Fla. — New product offerings, new packaging options and more were highlights of GOPEX exhibitors’ booths at this year’s event, held at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort Jan. 13-14.

Mac Riggan, vice president of sales and development for Chelan Fresh, highlighted the company’s new EcoTray packaging for its organic apples.

“It’s going to be a great way to sell organic apples,” he said. “It’s completely biodegradable and compostable.”

Bridgette Weber, sales marketing manager with Bard Valley Natural Delights, showcased the company’s organic date product line.

“We have organic deglet, organic medjools and our newest product, organic coconut mini medjools,” she said.

Pedro Rodriguez, CEO of grower-packer-shipper PanAmerican Farms, said his company showcased its new baby corn in both conventional and organic packaging.

“We’ve also been packing and growing organic French beans for the last 10 years in different presentations: half-pound, 1-pound and 2-pound,” he said.
