The Washington Apple Education Foundation opens an online auction of a Rears Powerblast Sprayer on Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Funds raised will support students through college scholarships and education support. Bidding is open until Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 12 noon (Pacific) when the winning bidder will be announced at the tree fruit industry’s annual meeting to be held this year online.

For 25 years WAEF has been the beneficiary of an orchard sprayer donated by Rears Manufacturing. In years past, the foundation has utilized the sprayer in a raffle held during the tree fruit industry annual meeting occurring in early December. This year with the annual meeting occurring virtually, the sprayer is available to bidders in a silent auction instead.

The sprayer is a Rears 400-gallon TTN profile airblast sprayer. Rears Manufacturing is a Northwest company with a proven productive partnership with Washington orchards and the WAEF community.

Sprayer specifications and details are posted at www.waef.org/event/auction.

Funds from the sprayer auction benefit students raised in central Washington tree fruit communities. Annually WAEF awards over $1 million in scholarships to college students. In addition to financial support, students are supported by WAEF with activities that support on-time graduation and career preparation. This year over 300 students are attending college with WAEF scholarships.

To bid, interested parties should send their current bid to events@waef.org or call (509) 663-7713. The current top bid will be updated regularly at www.waef.org/event/auction starting Dec. 1 until the auction concludes at 12 Noon on Dec. 9.

The Washington Apple Education Foundation is the charity of the tree fruit industry. Its mission is to impact lives through access to educational opportunities. Founded in 1994, WAEF is supported through voluntary contributions from industry and community members received through donations and during annual fundraisers.
