Eco Farms and Oppy are working on some new ideas, particularly small compostable packs that have become more popular as sustainability continues to be an important value for the company, said Gahl Crane, sales director for Temecula, Calif.-based Eco Farms. Oppy acquired a 65% stake in Eco Farms in 2020.

In coming months, they will start shipping Apeel-treated avocados as a way to extend shelf life. That program will start with Eco Farms-branded avocados from Mexico, according to the companies.

“We are also looking at different technologies to improve efficiency throughout the supply chain from growing (and) packing to transportation, ripening and distributing,” Crane said.
