Mucci Farms, a second-generation fruit and vegetable grower headquartered in Kingsville, Ontario, says it acquired Hacienda North Farms, a 159-acre greenhouse facility in Coatsworth, Ontario.
Mucci Farms is part of the newly launched Cox Farms business, which launched in March.
“This is a pivotal moment in the Cox Farms and Mucci Farms journey,” Cox Farms President Steven Bradley said in a news release. “This strategic investment underscores our dedication to leading the industry to ensure we meet the evolving needs of consumers. Together, we are committed to scaling operations and enhancing access to sustainably grown produce.”
Mucci Farms said Hacienda North Farms has been a grower partner for nearly a decade, specializing in the cultivation of bell peppers. The company said it plans to continue growing bell peppers at the new farm and will also explore opportunities s for diversification.
“Working directly with Hacienda Farms for several years has given us insight into the facilities and the quality product that’s grown there,” Mucci Farms CEO Bert Mucci said in the release. “Bringing them into our fold presents an exciting opportunity to further enhance our ability to meet the needs of our retail partners.”
The company said the addition of Hacienda North Farms includes a land bank with 120 acres, which it says will provide room for future expansion and innovation.
