Mucci Farms says it has added a 32-acre greenhouse in Tehachapi, Calif., as part of a strategy to enhance production capabilities.
The Kingsville, Ontario-based controlled environment agriculture fruit and vegetable grower is scaling operations to meet growing demand for its products on the West Coast, working in partnership with Cox Farms, a business entity of Cox Enterprises focused on greenhouse-grown food and agriculture, according to a news release.
“Our focus has always been about expanding access and providing additional support and resources to our retail partners across the continent,” Mucci Farms CEO Bert Mucci said in the release. “Our goal is to continue to scale operations to offer partners a national supply of greenhouse grown fruits and vegetables.”
“Cox Farms is committed to helping families access locally grown fruits and vegetables,” said Cox Farms President Steve Bradley. “Together with Mucci Farms, we aim to drive positive change in the industry while delivering on our promise of quality and environmental responsibility.”
This latest expansion into south-central California follows Mucci Farms’ entry into the region with its Camarillo facility in 2021. The company says its presence now extends across key locations in the U.S. and Canada, including its U.S. headquarters in Huron, Ohio, which features a 72-acre greenhouse.
It also has distribution hubs in San Antonio and Romulus, Mich. Also on the West Coast, Mucci Farms operates facilities in Camarillo, Calif., and Delta, British Columbia.
Mucci Farms says it remains steadfast in its mission to minimize food miles and champion environmentally conscious practices. The company continues to pursue a more resilient food system through strategic partnerships and investments in regional production facilities, the release said.
