Bloom Fresh, a fruit-breeding company specializing in table grapes, cherries and raisins, has released findings from its latest retail survey, Building Value Through Grape Varieties, that highlight consumer preferences in the U.S. table grape market.

Bloom Fresh said Forward Insight conducted the quantitative survey with 1,004 participants across the U.S. who were regular fruit purchasers and consumers who ate grapes at least once every two months.

The survey showed 30% of consumers are willing to pay more for a premium branded table grape variety, and consumers indicated freshness, taste and flavor as the major decision-making drivers, according to a news release.

Consumers also indicated they value table grapes for their convenience, snackability and long shelf life.

Bloom Fresh said its survey found that more than half of its participants are drawn to new branded varietals and seek out table grapes with different eating experiences for different occasions.

Tom Macintosh of Tesco said the survey results are valuable for retailers to understand changing consumer preferences.

“The findings from Bloom Fresh retail survey emphasize that consumers are increasingly drawn to branded varieties … seeking not just sustenance but a unique and enjoyable eating experience,” Macintosh said in the release. “By providing clear information on varietal characteristics and simplifying the flavor categorization process, our customers can be guided towards their preferred grapes, enriching their shopping experience and driving satisfaction.”
