USDA files complaint against Hood River Juice Company Inc.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Dec. 4 filed an administrative Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act complaint against Oregon-based Hood River Juice Company Inc.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Dec. 4 filed an administrative Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act complaint against Oregon-based Hood River Juice Company Inc.

The USDA said the company allegedly failed to make payment promptly to 12 produce sellers in the amount of more than $3.6 million from November 2014 through February 2019.

Hood River Juice Company Inc. will have an opportunity to request a hearing, according to a news release. In the event the USDA finds that the company committed repeated and flagrant violations, the release said the company would be barred from the produce industry as a licensee for three years, or two years with the posting of a USDA-approved surety bond. In addition, the company’s principals could not be employed by or affiliated with any PACA licensee for two years, or one year with the posting of a USDA-approved surety bond.
