The U.S. Department of Agriculture has sanctioned Versa Marketing Inc. for not paying a Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act award of almost $800,000.

Versa Marketing, Fresno, Calif., failed to pay $792,939 to three produce sellers from February to August 2018, according to a release. The company is barred from obtaining a PACA license until April 23, 2022, and only after receiving USDA approval.

The company’s principal operator, Alfred Goularte, is banned from being employed by or affiliated with a PACA licensee until April 23, and only after the USDA approves a surety bond posted on his behalf.
