Wegmans Food Markets Inc. has been recognized as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” in 2024 by Great Place To Work and Fortune magazine.

This is Wegmans 27th time on list, coming in at No. 6 this year, according to a news release.

The “100 Best Companies to Work For” list focuses on how employees feel about their workplace. Great Place To Work evaluates confidential feedback from employees, matching against human resources data from participating companies. Only companies with consistently high survey responses across the 60 statements of the Trust Index Survey are honored with placement on the list, the release said.

“There is nothing more important to us than being the best place to work for our people,” Colleen Wegman, president and CEO of Wegmans Food Markets, said in the release. “We’re grateful for the many ways our people live our values and create a welcoming place for everyone across our communities. We celebrate this honor together and thank our people for making Wegmans a special place to work and shop for all.”

Great Place To Work selected the list using analytics and confidential employee feedback from more than 1.3 million U.S. employees. Companies are only considered for the list if they are Great Place To Work Certified organizations with 1,000 or more employees in the U.S., the release said.

“When people ask about what sets the best companies apart from their competitors, it’s one key ingredient: trust,” Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work, said in the release. “When employees trust their leaders, their colleagues, and the organization, they become empowered to reach their full potential.”

“High-trust workplaces will be faster to innovate, more resilient in the face of disruption, and more likely to succeed in today’s rapidly changing, AI-integrating world,” Bush added.

“In a difficult macro environment with unprecedented challenges, these companies seemed to navigate their organizations toward steady and positive working environments for employees,” Alyson Shontell, editor-in-chief at Fortune said in the release.

In 2023, Wegmans also ranked as a Best Workplace for Parents, Best Workplace for Women, and was ranked No. 1 on the Fortune “Best Workplaces in Retail” list. In addition, the company was named to the People “Companies That Care” list.
