The Sykes Co., Rio Rico, Ariz., is now offering organic red seedless watermelons.

The watermelons are available to customers in the U.S. and Canada, according to a news release.

“After a lot of work on the part of our grower-partners, our melons have been certified (organic) and are looking great,” Bill Sykes, president, said in the release. “We are building an institutional knowledge around growing and handling organics that we can apply to our entire business.”

The company specializes in hard squash and watermelons from Mexico.

“Data shows that organic shoppers and plant-based eaters go hand-in-hand so we’re thinking our organic watermelons will fit in great,” Lesley Sykes, executive vice president, said in the release.

The company features watermelon recipes and other information on its blog.

The company ships watermelons through May and again in the fall. They are available in 700-pound bins and 65-pound cartons, according to the release.
