Consumers are becoming more health conscious, and that is a good sign for organic produce sales, says Michael Boskovich, organic sales representative for Boskovich Farms, Oxnard, Calif.

The company takes pride in being a family-owned operation that puts a lot of work into making sure it the right way, he said. Boskovich Farms offers several organic items, including green kale, black kale, red kale, radishes, green onions, celery, carrots, red beets, gold beets, broccoli crowns and green cabbage.

With supply options from Mexico, the marketer has no issues with organic availability, despite rains in California, he said.

Using health trends such as clean eating and juicing, retailers can expand organic sales, said Boskovich, who added that education also is key.

“New customers like to understand the true difference between conventional and organic growing,” he said.
