USDA reports peaks and valleys of organic produce prices

The USDA has reported the average monthly price for organic fresh produce was rated at $23.48 per carton in July, down 9% from $25.86 in June but up 12% from $20.99 at the same time a year ago.

The USDA has reported the average monthly price for organic fresh produce was rated at $23.48 per carton in July, down 9% from $25.86 in June but up 12% from $20.99 at the same time a year ago.

According to the USDA’s monthly average of fob organic produce prices, November and December saw the peak prices for organic produce in the past 12 months, at $31.28 per carton in November and $35.69 per carton in December.

The following shows the average organic produce per carton price by year, according to the USDA:

  • 2010: $22.31
  • 2011: $24.01
  • 2012: $23.47
  • 2013: $24.40
  • 2014: $26.68
  • 2015: $26.22
  • 2016: $21.74
  • 2017: $22.82
  • 2018: $20.37
  • 2019: $23.87
  • 2020: $22.81
  • 2021: $22.70
  • 2022: $25.58
  • 2023 (through early August): $26.04
