ILIP, an ILPA group company and European leaders in the transformation of plastic materials, will be taking part in the 2021 edition of Fruit Attraction, the international fruit and vegetable fair scheduled for 5 to 7 October 2021 in Madrid, where it will be presenting various innovations involving the “closed-loop” of packaging materials.

At fair stand 9B09, ILIP will be explaining the great innovation of T2T R-PET, the acronym for “Tray to Tray” in Recycled PET. It is a project that pursues the goal of the “closed-loop”, not only within the ILIP Group, thanks to the vertical integration of recycling, but also thanks to the recycling of PET food packaging.

In thus doing, fruit and vegetable trays are produced not only with bottles but also with recycled PET trays and punnets.

“The T2T R-PET project”–Nicola Ballini, General Manager of ILIP Srl, explains–“constitutes a very important milestone for our company. Having successfully created food trays starting not only from PET bottles, but also from recycled PET trays and punnets means having achieved a truly sustainable proposal in the pursuit of a properly closed loop in the recovery of packaging, with up to 100% recycled content. In other words”–Mr Ballini continues– “the T2T R-PET project is a solution perfectly in line with the transition towards a complete circular economy.ILIP therefore takes another important, concrete step forward in improving the environmental sustainability of the communities in which it operates.“ILIP and the ILPA Group companies”–ILIP’s General Manager concludes –“with the40,000 tonnes of PETthey recycle every year, help achieve the Italian and European plastic packaging recycling objectives and reduce the environmental impact of the products they recycle and those they manufacture, here and now, avoiding all forms of greenwashing”.

All in complete compliance with European legislation governing employment, health, the environment and consumer protection, as well as in line with the business philosophy of the “3 Rs”: Reduce, Recycle and Renewable resources, i.e. reduce the weight, the raw materials used, without impacting the performance of packaging and whilst also reducing food waste and using recycled materials and raw materials from renewable sources.
