Albertsons leader joins FiveStar Gourmet Foods’ board of directors

Perishable food leader Jerry Callahan is bringing his retail expertise to the FiveStar Gourmet Foods board of directors this summer.

California-based FiveStar Gourmet Foods, home to the Simply Fresh brands, has added food industry executive Jerry Callahan to its board of directors, effective July 1, according to a news release.

Callahan boasts a four-decade tenure with the Albertsons Cos. His role as group vice president of produce, floral, meat and seafood encompasses more than sales and profit management; it includes spearheading innovation throughout 2,250 stores across 14 divisions, coast to coast, the release said.

What’s more, his contributions in revolutionizing in-store produce programs set a precedent for unparalleled fresh quality, according to teh release. Widely recognized as a preeminent fresh merchant, Callahan’s skill in identifying emerging consumer trends and swiftly executing in-store initiatives solidified his reputation, said the release.
