Transportation broker Allen Lund Co., with offices nationwide, is reaching out to western U.S. shippers typically carrying items that could complete holiday meals for needy families.

The effort is part of a Houston-based feeding program called Navidad en el Barrio, which serves about 75,000 people annually, according to a news release. Allen Lund has participated in the program since 2004.

“Navidad en el Barrio is such an important effort and one that we are able to actually see the impact, by participating in the distribution of the dinners and meeting the grateful families,” company vice president Kenny Lund said in the release.

Allen Lund will provide the logistics and transportation of the donations during the week of December 10-15, so that meals can be delivered Dec. 15. All donations must be usable beyond the date of distribution.
