The Packer’s Editor Tom Karst visited Jan. 13 with Karen Caplan, president and CEO of Frieda’s Specialty Produce, Los Alamitos, Calif.

Caplan talked about the anniversary of her mom’s passing and all that has happened since early 2020, including the recent birth of her grandson, the first child of daughter Alex Berkley, Frieda’s sales manager.

While 2020 required a lot of adjustments, there were silver linings in the journey, Caplan said. Caplan talked about business adjustments, working from home, and yet still connecting with co-workers, what retailers are looking for with rising e-commerce sales and more.
