Creekside Organics of Bakersfield, Calif., has appointed Marissa Dake as sales director. A seventh-generation farmer, Dake brings more than a decade of experience spanning produce marketing, public affairs, industry advocacy, organizational management and business development to the role.
Throughout her career, Dake has built a reputation for creating impactful partnerships across the supply chain and advancing initiatives that support growers, customers and the industry, according to a news release. The company says her unique combination of farming roots, industry leadership and commercial experience makes her a natural fit to support Creekside through its next phase of growth.
In her new role, Dake will lead Creekside’s sales team and support the company’s continued growth as a trusted partner to retailers, distributors and foodservice customers across North America.
“Marissa brings an incredible combination of industry expertise, leadership and heart,” says Bianca Kaprielian, co-CEO of Creekside Organics. “What stands out most to me is the way she connects with people. She has built strong relationships throughout the produce industry and is deeply respected by growers, customers and colleagues alike. Marissa is a passionate advocate for agriculture and shares our commitment to supporting family farms and helping organic agriculture thrive. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the team and excited for all she’ll bring to Creekside.”
Dake joins Creekside during a period of significant growth and momentum. Following its merger with Fruit World in 2025, the company has continued to expand its offerings, strengthen grower partnerships and invest in the leadership and infrastructure that it says are needed to advance the future of organic agriculture.
“Creekside is entering an exciting new chapter, and investing in strong leadership is an important part of our future,” says Brenda Haught, co-CEO of Creekside Organics. “Marissa brings a combination of strategic vision, industry expertise and the ability to build meaningful partnerships. As we continue to grow and evolve, she will play an important role in strengthening our combined sales organization, deepening customer relationships and expanding opportunities for our growers.”
Coming from a farming family in Kansas and Nebraska, Dake developed an early appreciation for agriculture and the people behind it — a perspective that has shaped her career and leadership style, the company says.
Her career has included leadership roles in food and agriculture policy; hunger relief initiatives; produce marketing and sales; foodservice; processing; distribution; and industrywide initiatives. Creekside says this combination reflects her commitment to the commercial and human dimensions of the food system.
Dake currently serves as chair of International Fresh Produce Association’s Fresh Ambassador Network and is a graduate of IFPA’s Produce Industry Leadership Program. She remains actively involved in her family’s farming operation today.
“One of the things that drew me to Creekside was the incredible reputation they’ve built: exceptional organic produce, deep grower relationships and a genuine commitment to the people behind the business,” says Dake. “I’m excited to join a team that is shaping the future of organic agriculture and look forward to working alongside our growers, customers and partners to continue that momentum.”
