Inteligistics, a developer of digital technology solutions to streamline and transform the fresh food industry supply chain, has appointed Gary Fleming as its new CEO.

The company said Fleming has been at the forefront of supply chain efficiencies and technologies, developing standards and industry best practices across the fresh food sectors to improve traceability and visibility in the supply chain. He participated in more than 30 global best practice committees.

He previously served as vice president of industry technology and standards with the International Fresh Produce Association. While in the role Fleming was one of the primary architects of the Produce Traceability Initiative after the E. coli spinach outbreak in 2008, according to a news release. He led the development of numerous standards and best practices for supply chain traceability and data management as director of food and beverage industries for GS1.

Fleming has been a consultant to Inteligistics for the past year. The company said he helped spearhead the development of the data architecture and user interface for its 1-Click FSMA 204 Compliance Reporting functionality, which was released May 2024.

“Companies today collect data from disparate sources but fail to maximize the full value the data can provide,” Fleming said in the release. “Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, Inteligistics makes sense of the data to help companies look at each segment of their supply chain with a magnifying glass, reducing labor and energy use, increasing throughput, reducing shrink and waste, and selling more product at higher margins.”

Fleming also held previous roles at General Mills and was CEO of Dapicon, a supply chain technology platform in the fresh foods sector.

“Gary is the perfect person to take over day-to-day management of Inteligistics and spearhead our growth,” said Rao Mandava, Inteligistics’ founder and executive chairman. “His knowledge of food safety and technology, combined with his deep connections in fresh food and management experience, will guide our team as we help companies maximize the value from their digital transformations.”

The company said while Fleming takes over responsibilities for daily operations and product marketing and development, Mandava will focus his activities on investor, industry and key account relations.
