Billerica, Mass.-based food broker JOH has added Kate Degan as an account executive in its metro New York and New Jersey produce division.

Degan brings more than 15 years of experience in the food industry, the company said in a news release. She began her career at Whole Foods in Manhasset, N.Y., as a produce team member and then as a supervisor and team leader where she oversaw and mentored 70 team members, the release said.

Most recently, Degan worked as a category assistant manager for one of the largest distributors of specialty produce in the U.S. In this role she forecasted and analyzed trends within the industry and collaborated with produce directors to identify marketing initiatives to increase produce sales, according to the release.

“Kate will make an excellent addition to our team,” Jim Oettinger, JOH executive vice president of produce for the metro New York and New Jersey, said in the release. “Her experience in various segments of the produce industry, as well as her leadership positions, make her a great fit for our division.”
