Kegel’s Produce celebrates 70th with open house

Kegel’s Produce, Lancaster, Pa., celebrated its 70th anniversary with an open house that included recipe demonstrations a tour of the company’s facilities.

Kegel’s Produce, Lancaster, Pa., celebrated its 70th anniversary with an open house that included recipe demonstrations a tour of the company’s facilities.

Chief operating officer Kenny Myers and Angie Eichelberger, district director from Sen. Scott Martin’s office, spoke, and Eichelberger commemorated the Oct. 17 event with a Pennsylvania Senate recognition of 70 years of service.

The company operates from a facility built in 2004, according to a news release, that includes 105,000 square feet of refrigerated warehouse space.

At the company’s “Produce Playground,” in-house chefs prepared recipes for the attendees. The Produce Playground includes a seating area adjacent to the company’ customer pick-up desk. It provides a full kitchen equipped with overhead monitors for the company chefs to offer cooking demonstrations. It is used for company parties, cooking contests, new product displays, healthy-eating educational sessions and school tours as well, according to the company.
