Steve Circle has joined Santa Maria, Calif.-based Main Street Produce, also known as Freshway Farms, as director of sales for the vertically integrated berry grower-shipper.

Circle’s background includes business development, sales and operations in the fresh produce industry. The company says he will bring a wealth of experience to help drive its continued growth and commitment to quality. Main Street Produce says Circle will also enhance its ability to serve retail and foodservice accounts.

Circle’s career spans more than three decades in the fresh produce sector, with leadership roles at Veg-Fresh Farms, Sunrise Growers and previously at Main Street Produce. During his tenure at Veg-Fresh Farms, he built a berry division from the ground up, and while he was with Veg-Fresh Farms and Sunrise Growers, Circle drove annual sales to more than $150 million and oversaw production, according to a news release.

Main Street Produce says his ability to develop high-performing sales teams and implement strategic initiatives has positioned him as a proven leader in the industry.

“I’m ecstatic to return to Main Street Produce, a company that has always felt like home to me,” Circle said. “Having been part of its journey in the past, I know firsthand the dedication and passion that drive this team. I’m eager to build on that strong foundation and bring innovative solutions to our customers.”

The company says it plans to expand its operations to a 52-week, year-round program, sourcing berries from California and Florida.

“We are thrilled to welcome Steve Circle back to Main Street Produce,” said Main Street Produce President and CEO Mark Murai. “His deep industry knowledge and leadership will be instrumental as we continue to expand our reach and reinforce our reputation for delivering high-quality berries to our customers year-round.”
