Meridian Growers, a grower, processor, shipper and marketer of California and Arizona almonds, pistachios and pecans since 1998, has promoted Michelle Carter to director of communications.

Carter was hired in July 2006 as a sales and marketing assistant, according to a news release. She will now oversee all communication strategies for Meridian.

Meridian said it is keen to have Carter lead its efforts to have constant and effective communication with their growers and customers.

“I am looking forward to further expanding Meridian’s reach and making sure our growers and customers stay connected to what is happening not only at Meridian but within our industry,” Carter said in the release.

Meridian said promoting from within, when possible, is something that brings value not only to its customers but to its team.

“Michelle is such a valuable asset and to be honest one of the key reasons Meridian has been so successful all these years. I know she will excel in her new role and help take Meridian to the next level,” Jim Zion, managing director of Meridian, said in the release.
