Tom Thompson has joined Monterey Mushrooms as chief commercial officer, effective Sept. 14. Thompson will be based at the company’s headquarters in Dallas and report to Chris Abbott, president of Monterey Mushrooms.

Thompson brings more than 20 years of experience across the food, agriculture and fresh produce industries. He most recently served as chief revenue officer for State Garden, where he led commercial strategies across a branded and private label portfolio.

Before that, he was chief revenue officer for Revol Greens, where he helped expand the company’s national footprint and build partnerships with leading grocery and foodservice organizations.

“The mushroom category faced challenges in the past few years, but we see significant opportunities ahead driven by growing consumer interest in healthy and functional food, organic offerings and value-added products,” Abbott says. “Tom’s experience and strategic mindset will help us capitalize on those trends, strengthen our commercial execution and bring new solutions to our retail and foodservice customers.”

The company says the appointment is part of a broader series of investments Monterey Mushrooms is making in commercial talent, technology and infrastructure across its fresh mushroom business.
