NatureSweet exec appointed to university leadership board

Martin C. Ruebelt, the chief scientific officer for San Antonio-based greenhouse grower NatureSweet, has been appointed to the Food Science and Technology Leadership Board at the University of California, Davis.

The board is an external advisory group organized to support one of the largest undergraduate food science programs in the U.S., according to a news release.

Ruebelt, a consumer research and product development expert, has more than 20 years of experience in the agricultural industry, the release said. NatureSweet said he has led its innovation, research and development teams for the last year and a half, and his leadership track record also includes roles at other agricultural companies such as Sensei Ag, Bayer and Monsanto.

The UC Davis Food Science and Technology program plays an important role in the food and beverage industry and provides a solid education for future food scientists, cutting-edge research, industry outreach, as well as courses for professionals, according to the release.
