Woodland, Calif.-based Syngenta Vegetable Seeds has appointed Juan Pablo López as territory head for vegetable seeds for the U.S. and Canada.

In this role, López will lead the vegetable business for the company, delivering short- and mid-term business targets while building an effective and sustainable, long-term end-to-end business, according to a news release.

“We are excited to welcome Juan Pablo to his new role and for him to bring his considerable talent, knowledge and experience to our U.S. and Canadian Syngenta Vegetable Seeds business,” Javier Martinez-Cabrera, head of Americas vegetable seeds for Syngenta, said in the release.

López, who will relocate from Switzerland to California to assume his new role, joined Syngenta in 2007 as key account manager in Ecuador, according to the release. He has held several marketing and commercial roles in crop protection.

For nearly 17 years at Syngenta, he has contributed to the growth of the Americas, including Mexico and other global agricultural sectors, according to the release. He holds two master’s degrees from the European School of Business and two bachelor’s degrees from Universidad San Francisco de Quito.

López’s most recent position was global product manager for insect control for Syngenta, where he was instrumental in driving the global strategy for the TYMIRIUM technology, maximizing the product life cycle of Syngenta pyrethroids, and developing crossover initiatives with biologicals and seedcare, the release said.

“This is a great opportunity, and I look forward to working with our Syngenta Vegetable Seeds teams and customers to continue advancing this important area of our business,” López said in the release.
