Salinas, Calif.-based Pacific Valley Bank (PVB) is pleased to announce that Teresa Matsui has joined its Board of Directors.

Her dedication to our community coupled with her professional expertise and commercial banking experience makes her an extraordinary addition to our board.”
Having served in multiple senior executive positions, Matsui has successfully guided organizations through transitions shifting and evolving business conditions ultimately leading to the development of sustainable growth strategies. As the chief executive for Matsui Nursery, Inc. (one of the nation’s largest orchid nursery’s), Matsui was responsible for transforming a $30 million nursery business into a professional organization with a sustainable future. Before taking over as CEO in 2015, she was the chief financial officer. In addition to leading Matsui Nursery, Teresa heads the Matsui Foundation - a private foundation established by her parents to support the educational endeavors of the underserved students in the Salinas Valley and throughout Monterey County. Under her stewardship, the foundation has awarded $3.8 million in scholarships to local students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and vocational programs.

My first job out of college was at Wells Fargo’s headquarters where I worked as a credit analyst and loan examiner. I am eager to rejoin the banking industry, but on a regional, human scale.”

Over the years, Teresa honed her reputation as a respected thought leader, speaker, and mentor. She has been a panelist at the Forbes AgTech Summit, the EcoFarm Conference, and the Campden Americans Families in Business Conference. Teresa has also been featured in a major New York Times article on hotel franchising during her tenure at InnWorks.
Teresa is a strong advocate of continuing professional development for governance professionals. She is a National Association of Corporate Directors Governance Fellow. She also completed the Women’s Director Development Program at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Teresa received her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and her AB from Harvard University.
