What is the single most urgent shift the produce industry must make today to ensure it remains sustainable and profitable in 2030 and beyond?

“The quality of the food Melissa’s Produce sources begins at the field. Many of our growing partners are innovators of organic, regenerative farming with the mindset to grow healthy food in a healthy way to pass on healthy soil to future generations. We couple this commitment with a newly modernized packing facility that conserves energy, and we manage our food waste with RE:CIRCLE, a state-of-the-art composting facility that’s leading change toward a circular, sustainable economy.”

With 30 years at Melissa’s, Robert Schueller serves as director of public relations for Melissa’s Produce, and is widely recognized by the media as a trusted “produce expert.”

Over his distinguished career, Schueller has managed public relations across national food trade and consumer press — spanning print, digital, radio and television — and is credited with more than 25,000 published articles.

A sought-after speaker on produce trends, marketing and industry insights, he has presented at high-profile events and institutions, including the Epcot Food & Wine Festival at Disney World, Disney California Adventure, the Culinary Institute of America, the Institute of Culinary Education, the Orange County Fair and major trade shows nationwide.

He is also the co-author of seven cookbooks, including Melissa’s 50 Best Plants on the Planet, Melissa’s Everyday Cooking with Organic Produce and Melissa’s Hatch Chile Pepper Cookbook.
