What is the single most urgent shift the produce industry must make today to ensure it remains sustainable and profitable in 2030 and beyond?

“We have to make farming something a young person would actually want to choose. ... When a fifth-generation farm goes under, it doesn’t come back. More of what the shopper spends needs to make it back to the farm. … The biggest thing is making sure that we are able to make farming a viable career option for people that they actually want to farm because we need them. … They’re the backbone of the entire food system.”

Taylor Meadows is the marketing manager at Happy Dirt, where she leads all internal and external marketing strategies to champion regional organic farmers.

With more than a decade of experience driving brand strategy for mission-driven startups, ranging from sustainable fashion and local food tech to craft beverage brands.

In 2018, Happy Dirt signed on as her marketing client. She joined the team full-time as Happy Dirt’s sole marketer in 2022.

Based in Raleigh, N.C., she specializes in building marketing systems from scratch, amplifying local farm stories and expanding brand presence across the produce industry.
