Sustainable packaging company Sabert Corp. announced its appointment of Ricardo De Genova as senior vice president of innovation Sept. 19.

In this role, De Genova will oversee Sabert’s global centers for innovation, new product development, design, and marketing/product management teams and report to Paul McCann, the company’s CEO.

“Ricardo’s track record in identifying emerging trends and developing breakthrough products aligns perfectly with Sabert’s vision to be our customers’ trusted sustainable food packaging solutions provider,” McCann says. “His expertise and passion for our industry will help us continue to distinguish Sabert as a global innovation leader, especially as we invest in new materials and technologies that support our customers’ sustainability goals.”

De Genova brings more than three decades of experience in innovation and corporate leadership across the packaging, chemicals and specialty ingredients industries, according to Sabert. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of global innovation and new business at Graphic Packaging International, where he was responsible for organic growth strategies through innovation.

His previous roles include leadership positions at Solenis LLC, Ashland Inc., Cargill, and The Dow Chemical Company, where he built and led international teams, drove organizational change and developed new-to-the-world solutions.

A native of Brazil, De Genova holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the Maua School of Engineering, and he has completed executive studies at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.

“Sabert’s rich history of innovation and long-standing commitment to sustainability are just some of the reasons I’m excited to partner with the team to create smart, safe, and inspiring packaging solutions for tomorrow’s world,” De Genova says.

“The food packaging industry is at a pivotal point, ripe for fresh thinking, creative design, and engineering,” he adds. “I strongly believe Sabert is the place to reinvent how food packaging connects people to the meals they love, while setting new standards for quality, safety, and sustainability.”
