BrightFarms, Irvington, N.Y., has hired Steve Campione as chief financial officer.

Campione, who has more than 20 years of experiences in finance, operations and investment banking, most recently was chief financial officer and chief operations officer at Rural Media Group, according to a news release. Before that, Campione was on Wall Street raising capital for growth companies and advising clients on mergers and acquisitions.

“We look forward to benefiting from his expertise in creating the tools, systems and culture to enable the company to smoothly scale nationally,” Paul Lightfoot, BrightFarms CEO.

BrightFarms grows produce in urban greenhouses near the retail and other customers it supplies. It has production facilities in four states.

Lightfoot recently accepted an invitation to join the Romaine/Food Safety Task Force, an industry group comprised of produce industry leaders, academic experts, governmental officials and others. The United Fresh Produce Association, Produce Marketing Association and other industry groups are involved in the task force.
