Sunrise Fresh Dried Fruit CEO Jacob “Jake” Samuel has been awarded the Young Farmers & Ranchers Achievement Award by the California Farm Bureau.

As chief executive for the Stockton, Calif.-based company, Samuel has helped build the premium dried fruit business into one of the leading suppliers of unsweetened, all-natural fruits for ingredient use, according to a news release.

“I am honored and proud to be selected for this year’s Ag Achievement Award,” Samuel said in the release. “I appreciate the support of my family and wife Khrista for working with me as the last several years of my business has been challenging, but also very rewarding. The Farm Bureau is such a great organization, and it helps all of us to meet the challenges of ranching and farming today.”

Samuel grows almonds and walnuts as well as helps manage cherry, almond and walnut production for the family-owned Samuel Farms; he also is a partner in Shade Tree Farming and is a graduate of California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, the release said.
