Port Everglades receives 3 sustainability awards

Port Everglades, Broward County, Fla., recently won three national awards recognizing sustainability practices.

Port Everglades, Broward County, Fla., recently won three national awards recognizing sustainability practices.

The awards, according to a news release, are:

  • The National Association of Environmental Professionals’ 2020 Environmental Excellence Award;
  • The North American Marine Environmental Protection Association’s 2020 Marine Environment Protection Award for Ports; and
  • The American Association of Port Authorities’ 2020 Award of Excellence for Port Everglades’ Comprehensive Environmental Management Program.

The port has invested million of dollars in building infrastructure to protect and improve the surrounding environment, according to the release.

“We are leading the way in port sustainability practices and putting the port on the environmental map by giving our attention to a diverse set of air, land, sea, and wildlife concerns simultaneously,” Jonathan Daniels, Port Everglades chief executive and port director said in the release.
